Sub-10 in 2010?

I'll need everything to go perfectly. No significant injuries. No mechanicals on the bike. Reasonable weather.

But if everything goes to plan I reckon that I could just creep under 10 hours for Ironman Germany in 2010. I only need to save 27 minutes from last time - that's barely 4% overall.

I had what I thought was the perfect race there in 2008. I'm hoping that my swimming technique will be a little more solid after two more years of swimming. I'm pretty sure that my cycling has improved. As for my running - who knows? I was well ahead of schedule last time and didn't really have a target time. Perhaps with a really clear goal I can motivate myself a little harder towards the end of the run to bring it home.

Also I've got a few sneaky options:

(a) not breaking my bike computer in T1 so pacing will be easier;
(b) previous bike splits to help me pace the bike better;
(c) the possibility of dropping some cash on some aero bike stuff - particularly a decent wheelset;
(d) working out some avoiding-cramp strategies;
(e) I can almost get my head around some sneaky urinating-on-the-go moves after Alvin has talked me through it.

There we have it. I'm most nervous about this left achilles injury flaring up again. That really would put the kibosh on any thoughts of being quicker.
